I'm currently playing Final Fantasy XIV Realm Reborn on the PC with The Older Gamers. I've mixed feelings about this game and even after 20ish levels as the Marauder (tank class), I don't feel any excitement in playing the game. It feels like a chore.
The lore is not very interesting and the quests have the 'same-old-feeling' to many other MMORPGs. It sort of bugs me that a AAA game released in 2013 is so... mediocre. Suffice to say after 1.0's failure SquareEnix has taken a very cautious approach to the game's development.
I'm working towards a Warrior tank. It's a mix of two classes: the Marauder and the Gladiator. It's very much like a Lord Knight in Ragnarok Online (RO). High Health Points, Armor and Damage. The Paladin tank is more similar to the Crusader class of RO.
It's the first time i've really played a tanking class. I usually prefer healing or damage. It's a lot easier to train my tanking abilities with TOG, especially with our crew in Devil's Gauntlet. Everyone knows what they're doing and have years of MMOG experience. We've great communication between each other too.
It might be too early to call it... but i might give it a few more weeks before i make up my mind about continuing the subscription.
